Alexander, my partner, is an UK-based artist whose works make viewing a book a whole new experience. He makes books sculptures, cutting around some of the illustrations and removing others. His base materials are antiquarian books that have stripped of their utilitarian value by the passage of time. He restores these books to their former glory, but in a new fashion, by leaving the newly cut images in the place where they would normally appear in the complete book. In the end, the book is sealed around the cut, and can no longer be opened, inviting the viewers to add meaning to the artwork by using their own imagination.

The hand cut layered pigment prints are limited edition multiples based on the cut books. The depth of the book is recreated here by layering six hand cut prints to construct a three-dimensional piece. Printed on archival 100% cotton rag, they are fade resistant for 100 years.
